<body-html>

I was born to be a fabriholic. Growing up in the 1970s with a textile artist mother and a weekend art school in the basement of my family home, I spent much of my childhood surrounded by cloth, wool, and needles.

My design work reflects my lifelong passion for great fabric, my background in textile history (with an M.A. focusing on the history of textiles and craft in East Asia), a love of quilting and handwork, and a life full of amazing kids! I love designing clothing for kids that’s comfortable, practical, and fun to wear.

The adoption of my daughter Samantha in 2003 inspired me to name my label “Red Thread.” Along with the relevance of its literal meaning to the work I do, it also refers to an old Chinese proverb beloved by adoptive families: “An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break.”

—Devorah Miller
